Vision

In order to discharge its mandate impartially up to the high expectations of States Parties to UNCLOS,
ITLOS needs judges with in-depth expertise and proven track records in the law of the sea
and as many other fields of international law as possible, who are elected on the basis
of equitable geographical representation and personal qualifications,
and not geopolitical considerations or alliance.

Mission

To utilize my knowledge, expertise and experience to actively uphold the international rule of law of the sea in light of the challenges arising from present and future threats, such as climate change and sea-level rise, for the benefit of present and future generations
