Bangkok, 29 May 2025 – The Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, had the honour of welcoming Judge Kriangsak Kittichaisaree as a distinguished panelist at a special seminar held to commemorate the Ministry’s 150th anniversary. The seminar, titled “Treaty = Thailand’s Past, Present, and Future,” explored the enduring role of treaties in shaping the nation’s legal and diplomatic landscape.
Judge Kriangsak delivered an insightful presentation on the historical, contemporary, and future significance of treaties in Thailand’s international relations. He emphasized how treaties have served as foundational instruments throughout Thailand’s legal history, charting the country’s course from its past to the present and future.
A central theme of his remarks was the evolving role of treaties in addressing global challenges. Drawing on recent developments in international law, including advisory proceedings such as those before the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), Judge Kriangsak explained the importance of adapting and modernizing treaty frameworks to meet the demands of today’s rapidly changing world.
The audience was particularly engaged by Judge Kriangsak’s insights at the intersection of international law, environmental responsibility, and treaty reform.
